President Milanović Meets with Participants of the CEDA Diabetologists’ Congress in Zagreb

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović today welcomed participants of the Central European Diabetes Association (CEDA) Diabetologists’ Congress, ahead of the annual gathering taking place in Zagreb on 12-14 June.

The Central European Diabetes Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting scientific advancement and fostering collaboration among diabetes associations in Central Europe. Its key activities include annual symposia – supplemented by smaller events and gatherings – as well as exchange programmes for young doctors and researchers. These programmes, financially supported by CEDA, aim to build connections, facilitate the exchange of experiences, and promote knowledge-sharing.

Dr. Dario Rahelić, President of the Croatian Society for Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders, Head of the Vuk Vrhovac University Clinic, and President of the CEDA Congress 2025, briefed President Milanović on the key topics to be addressed at this year’s Congress in Zagreb. These include: obesity and its impact on health, pharmaceutical treatments for obesity, the interplay between psychology and diabetes treatment, the use of artificial intelligence in diagnostics, new therapies for diabetes and liver diseases, rare metabolic disorders, post menopause and blood sugar control, pregnancy and diabetes, insulin resistance, the relationship between diabetes and heart disease, diabetes and dentistry, the link between cancer and diabetes, and kidney disease.

During the meeting, Congress participants shared their perspectives on several of these topics. President Milanović wished them a productive Congress and highlighted the societal importance of the issues they are addressing.
